Tenacid 500 mg is a prescription-only medication containing tranexamic acid, an anti-fibrinolytic agent used to prevent or reduce excessive bleeding in various conditions.  UsesTenacid 500 mg is prescribed to control or prevent heavy bleeding in conditions such as:
 Heavy menstrual bleeding (menorrhagia)

• Nosebleeds
• Bleeding after surgery, including oral (tooth removal), prostate, or bladder surgeries
• Gastrointestinal bleeding
• Bleeding associated with certain bleeding disorders, like hemophilia, under medical supervision
• Hereditary angioedema (a hereditary disease that causes swelling under the skin)
